New Hyde Park, NY –North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the Town Board today announced that the Town will be holding its second annual “Operation Clean Sweep.” Once again a fleet of street sweepers and cleaners will be out on the roads throughout the next two weeks, with the goal of cleaning every inch of the more than 520 curb miles. Last year’s program removed over 760 tons of garbage, dirt and yard waste throughout the Town.
The program consists of two phases:
- Week one - April 11-April 15 - all Town streets in the unincorporated areas south of the Long Island Expressway
- Week two - April 18-April 22 – all Town streets in the unincorporated areas north of the Long Island Expressway
Residents can either log on to www.northhempsteadny.gov and click on the Earth Day link for updated day to day information, or call TOWN311 (869-6311) with questions.
“In order to make sure that we get every area, we are asking residents not to park their cars on the street from 7:00 A.M.-7:00 P.M.,” said Supervisor Kaiman. “In addition to sweeping the streets, crews will also be out in your neighborhoods cleaning catch basins and sweeping handicap ramps.”
