Town Offers Tax Assessment Challenge Workshops
North Hempstead, NY- North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman, and Town Receiver of Taxes Charles Berman have announced five Property Tax Assessment Challenge Workshops to assist residents of the Town of North Hempstead with their property tax assessment challenge applications prior to the upcoming May 1st deadline.
Workshops will be:
- Thursday, April 25th at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm at the “Yes We Can” Community Center at 141 Garden Street in Westbury
- Friday, April 26th at 11am and 1pm at Clinton G. Martin Park at New Hyde Park Road and Marcus Avenue in New Hyde Park
All residential property owners who have not yet filed their applications are invited to attend. The Town of North Hempstead will have staff available to work with residents on their online applications, and to answer any questions.
Supervisor Kaiman said, “It is important to note that the Town of North Hempstead does not set your property taxes, but we will do everything in our power to make sure that you do not pay more than your fair share of taxes.”
Receiver of Taxes Charles Berman said, “Residents should know that if they do not file their tax assessment under the current Nassau County Assessment system, then their taxes will increase in order to cover the lost revenue from those who challenged their assessment. This workshop is a great way to make sure that does not happen.”
To register for any of these workshops, please email tax@northhempsteadny.gov or call 311. If calling from outside North Hempstead, dial 516-869-6311.
