Town Helps Present “Looking Wonderful with Cancer” Program
North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman, and Town Clerk Leslie Gross invite residents to a “Looking Wonderful with Cancer” event, that provides a free demonstration of a transformation program for those undergoing cancer treatment.
On Wednesday, May 8th from 6:30pm to 9:00pm at North Hempstead’s Clinton G. Martin Park in New Hyde Park, three cosmetologists who are licensed by New York State and volunteer for the American Cancer Society, will perform a make-over on three women that are currently undergoing cancer treatment.
The Town Clerk’s office has taken the lead on this event. Town Clerk Leslie Gross said, “This event is such an amazing opportunity for those undergoing treatment, and even friends and family, to witness a truly stunning transformation produced by these ultra-talented cosmetologists. When you look better, you definitely feel better, and that’s what the goal of this program is for all undergoing cancer treatment.”
This event has been created in collaboration with the “Look Good…Feel Better” organization. Volunteer Coordinator June Bleich added, “I can’t give enough credit to these courageous women who are revealing themselves without hair, eyebrows, lashes, and make-up to an audience of strangers.”
“Looking Wonderful with Cancer” is sponsored by the American Cancer Society, Personal Care Products Council, the Professional Beauty Association and the North Shore LIJ/North Shore LIJ Cancer Institute, as well as Loehmann’s, who generously provide every model with a head-to-toe outfit selected by their lead fashion stylist.
