Tax Collection Schedule for 2023-2024

School Tax Fiscal Year: July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024

General Tax Calendar Year: January 1 - December 31, 2024

October 1, 2023	First-half 2023 – 2024 School Tax due
November 13, 2023*	Last day to pay School Tax without penalty
January 1, 2024	First-half 2024 General Tax due
February 13, 2024*	Last day to pay General Tax without penalty
April 1, 2024	Second-half 2023 - 2024 School Tax due

**When the 10th falls on a weekend or holiday, the last day to pay without penalty is the following business day.

Paying your Taxes Online

We accept E-Checks, major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover), and debit cards (Mastercard and Visa).  The service fees are as follows:

• Electronic checks:  $1.75 flat fee
• Credit cards:  2.3% of total amount
• Visa and Mastercard debit cards only:  $3.95 flat fee

New York General Municipal Law requires people paying their property taxes by credit card to also pay the fees associated with the payment transaction. The fees go directly to the company managing our online payments, not to the Town of North Hempstead. The vendor splits the fees with the credit card companies. The Town does not profit from the service.

Using the Payment Portal

For returning users, you may log in to the portal by clicking “Log In” on the upper right corner.

New users should click “Register for an Account.” Click HERE for step by step instructions on setting up a new account. You may also pay your taxes without registering for an account by clicking on the “Pay Now” link. You will be asked to enter your account number, which can be found on the top right-hand corner of your tax bill. Please enter the account number without the letters “S” or “G”. You must provide an email address and telephone number to process your payment and to receive a receipt for the transaction.

 

**Please note that taxes are not considered paid until your payment has cleared the bank.**

Paying your Taxes By Phone

*NEW* Pay by Phone:

We’ve launched a new IVR (Interactive Voice Response) option for those who wish to pay by phone.  Simply call (516) 869-7800 and select Option #1.  You will need to have your Account Number which is located at the top right-hand corner of your tax statement.  If you do not have your tax statement or account number, please hang up and call our office (516) 869-7800 and dial 0 for our Customer Service Desk.  You may pay by phone using either a credit card, Visa or MasterCard debit card, or an ACH e-check.  Please note that associated service fees follow the same fee schedule as online payments above.

Paying your Taxes In Person

The Tax Office is open at 200 Plandome Road, Manhasset, NY 11030, 9am -- 4:45pm, Monday -- Friday, except holidays.  We accept checks, money orders, and cash.  The cashiers cannot process credit card or debit card payments in person.  If you wish to pay by credit/debit card, you will be directed to go online.  

The Office will also be open extended hours on the following days:

Wednesday, May 8th – 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
Thursday, May 9th – 9:00 am to 6:00 pm  
Friday, May 10th – 9:00 am to 7:00 pm

 

*NEW* After-Hours Tax Dropbox:

 If you can’t get here during regular office hours, take advantage of our new After-Hours Tax Dropbox at the front door of 200 Plandome Road to drop off a payment envelope. Please only place checks or money orders in the envelopes, NOT CASH, and be sure to include your 2023/2024 School Tax Second-Half payment stub.

The Tax Office will be closed in 2024 on January 1,  January 15, February 12, February 19, May 27, June 19, July 4, September 2, October 14, November 5, November 11, November 28, and December 25.

The Receiver of Taxes collects and disburses School and General Property taxes. Each individual village collects village taxes separately.
