Councilman Edward Scott (2nd District)
Edward Scott is currently serving his first term as Council Member on the North Hempstead Town Board representing the second councilmanic district which includes Albertson, Searingtown, North Hills, Roslyn Heights, East Hills, Greenvale, and parts of Mineola and Glenwood Landing.
Edward was born and raised in Brooklyn. He’s a retired 20-year veteran of the New York City Police Department who rose through the ranks from a uniformed patrol officer to Sergeant and was a first responder on September 11, 2001. The 9/11 attacks on America changed Edward’s life forever, as he evacuated people from lower Manhattan on that tragic morning and spent the following weeks as a rescue and recovery worker at Ground Zero.
As a resident of Albertson, Edward Scott has faithfully served his community as a small business owner, union leader, President of the Albertson Civic Association since 2012, and a Commissioner of the Albertson Water District since 2021. He currently lives in Albertson with his wife Kay and his two sons.
As President of the Albertson Civic Association, he advocated for the funds needed to improve public space known as the Albertson Triangle. He also secured neighborhood landscaping improvements to town-owned property, construction of a Vietnam Memorial to honor our veterans with members of Roslyn Heights and restored a crumbling gazebo in the center of town. Through his advocacy efforts, a dormant sump was transformed into Reflection Park, which now features a clock tower, trees, benches, and landscaping on Willis Avenue in Roslyn Heights and Albertson.
As Albertson Water District Commissioner, Edward kept drinking water safe from harmful chemicals by upgrading critical infrastructure. In the spirit of giving back, Edward turned down $30,000 in annual health insurance benefits offered to Water Commissioners and battled against plans to provide free lifetime benefits to other Commissioners at the expense of taxpayers.
