The BZA is authorized to make decisions on permit applications that have been disapproved by the Building Department as well as certain conditional and special uses.

The BZA Staff assists in coordinating the activities of the Board of Zoning Appeals by processing and reviewing applications concerning land use regulations. The Office also conducts required field inspections and environmental assessments, prepares legal notices for publication, schedules public hearings, prepares the Board's notices of decision and maintains a record of their minutes and resolutions as required by law.

All applications must be complete as required by §70-227.C of the Town Code and be accompanied with the appropriate filing fee in the form of an e-check or credit card online or in the form of a check or money order via mail or in person.  Checks and money orders must be made payable to the Town of North Hempstead.  Please ensure that the correct phone and email contact information are provided as part of your online application.

Please also be aware that all BZA hearing dates are tentative and a Notice of Hearing will be sent to you confirming your hearing date.
